Vern Arneson @ Decatur VA
My dad had emergency surgery this morning at the Decatur VA. He is in significant pain but the prognosis is for full recovery. He had an abyss in the prostate area that was causing severe pain. They drained and packed the area. He may also have pneumonia but that is secondary to the surgery. He is in room 7126. I will spend the night at the hospital with him. I will have Doug send an update in the morning.

As you will read below, Larry was in an accident returning from National Convention. I spoke with him this morning and he hopes to be released today or tomorrow. In addition to an aneurism, he suffered abrasions and is still hurting in his hips, back and shoulders.
Ann, Larry’s wife, thanks everyone for their calls and expressions of concern and love. It is interesting to note that Post 214 was hosting a barbeque for Labor Day and that was one of Larry’s concerns. He only allowed Doyle to stay with him for the day of the accident and then sent him back home to work the barbeque. Ann became one of the biggest helpers and worked many hours at the Post yesterday. What troopers!
Please say prayers that Larry will suffer no long term affects from his accident.

I spoke with both Cecil and his wife Martha. Cecil is doing well and was making jokes on the phone – Martha said it might be the medication but at least he is in good spirits. He still has several surgeries and a lot of rehab. They both are praising the support of the Legion Family and are looking forward to the opportunity to assist others in the future. Cecil and Martha are even talking about going on a cruise.

Annetta Tucker sent me an email today letting me know that Charlie is in the hospital in Arlington,
Virginia. He has had very near congestive heart failure. His sugar level is very high and they are giving
him insulin. But, Annetta thinks that his sugar level is running high caused from all the Lasix the doctors
are giving him. He will have a heart cath tomorrow with possible by-pass surgery. Dale Barnett is staying
with Charlie until Sunday. If Charlie has to have bypass surgery Annetta will be going to him. Please
Charlie and his family in your prayers.
